Special Edition for Boys!
In this brand new edition adapted especially for boys, readers will find the tale of Dilectus and his friends every bit as charming and instructive as before--and now boys as well as girls will find it easy to become the hero of the story and make it their own!
Though initially intended to help with a child's preparation for First Communion, we highly recommend reading this story once a year--even for adults!--especially during the seasons of Lent and Advent! After finding a set of parallel French translations of this book--one for boys, one for girls--both were released to bring this classic to a new generation of young Catholics!
You can find the version for Catholic girls HERE!
+++++
The King of the Golden City is an allegorical tale which has stood the test of time because of the beauty of its symbolism and the richness of its spiritual advice. Written for children yet beloved by all, the only complaint lodged against it has been that its main character is female, leaving many boys to feel that this tale is better suited for girls. Encouraged by the original French translators of this book, who created parallel editions for boys and girls, we have now remedied this single fault!
Check out a brief version of this book originally appeared in Mother Loyola's first work, The Children's Charter, her book of advice for parents and teachers published in 1911.

from 6053 reviewsMy kids love it and we love it too. It’s so inspiring book
I had borrowed this book from a friend years ago and wanted to purchase my own copy to use in our homeschool. My son is a new server at a TLM Mass and it is helping him with his movements as well.
I really like the Prayer Cards on Carlo Acutis. I wish I could afford to get them for each of the 250 children in our CCD program. I'm glad to have them for our 2nd graders.
They are beautiful
I love them! I'll be giving them to my 8th grade CCD students.
Great love it
It is compact, complete, and easy to keep by your bed or in a purse or pocket.
Good price , nice size and awesome information in the back.
The narration was so engaging that my kids were captivated from start to finish. It made the story memorable without feeling overwhelming. I especially loved how it highlighted the Knights of the Immaculata—my children really understood the beautiful distinction between knights who serve a country and knights who serve our Lord. A wonderful balance of being thorough yet approachable. Highly recommend!
I teach 2nd grade catechism can’t wait to give my students his holy card and share his story with them.
Thumbs up!
Beautiful and succinct commentary on the rosary. The best I’ve ever read. Worth every penny and more.
Great quality and greater reminders of the simple steps to holiness.
The cards were beautiful and made with sturdy card stock
There are many different holy pictures on the cards which is a nice variety. They are lovely to look at and are an additional enhancement to the Divine Praises.
Loved that they made a special version just for boys!
Good edition for boys. Smaller and doesn’t have color pictures but that doesn’t detract from the story.
This is a gift for my grandson who will make his First Communion soon. I know he will love it!
Thanks!
I’m so grateful to have this book to read to my son.
Thanks!
