Just an amazing resource. Highly recommend. Esp for ages 5-8. You know the maturity of your child.
This book explains so well what children can do to if they see a bad picture. The language is simple and easy for young children to understand. It helps young children see that they have the power—they can be in control of their minds even after they accidentally see a bad picture. I read it to my daughter and son (ages 4 and 3), and afterward my daughter exclaimed, “Now I have the power!” That’s exactly how I want my kids to feel—that even when they accidentally see something bad, they are still good people and can move on from that. They can be in control. So grateful for this book! Thank you!
Started reading (and re-reading) this well-written, insightful and extremely helpful book with our 5 year old. Wish we'd had it for our older children!
This book teaches kids to know when they feel unsafe, see something dangerous/inappropriate and how to get help from a trusted adult. Read it over & over--start now!
I made the mistake of reading an article about when children are first exposed to pornography. Ever since, I've been attempting to broach the topic of pornography with my 4- and 5-year old daughters. Let me tell you, this book is incredible. It's SO ACCESSIBLE. It literally is everything you'd want to say, and in a simple format that isn't patronizing and difficult to follow at all.
And my girls LOVED finding the camera on every page. Helped keep us all engaged.
Honestly, I wish every library had a copy because it's not an every-night-type read-- but it's just worth EVERY PENNY. I'm passing this book around in my mom friends group and just couldn't recommend this book more. I'll probably bring it out again in 6 months or so for reinforcement. SO RELIEVED to have had this conversation.
Great way to teach your children. Pornography is a topic that can be hard for parents to talk about without embarrassment but this book takes all that away. Simply read it to your child! The author has already figured out the words to say...nothing more, nothing less. It is short and to the point so it can hold the attention of young children and it is presented in a way they can understand. The book also gives children a plan for what to do when they see it. They can learn the actions to take.
This was a great book to read to elementary age kids. Very straightforward and to the point. Not shaming and gives a plan for how to handle bad pictures.
