Book #2: The Holy Mass: On Earth as it is in Heaven
Catholic friends Fulton and Cynthia return for an adventure through the Holy Mass from the astounding perspective of God's instructions in the Old Testament and unpacking what Jesus taught His Apostles!
With an Imprimatur & Nihil Obstat, this vivid comic-book formatted volume takes children on a journey through the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, explaining where each part of the Mass comes from and why Catholics believe in the True Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist!
Children will learn:
- How Moses and the Passover prefigured the first Mass
- How we receive special graces through the Mass
- How God's covenant relationship with us continues today
- What the deep meaning behind each element of the Mass is
- and so much more!
We’ve been asked: “So, which Mass is it that is revealed in this book?”
It’s the Holy Mass instituted by Christ that is now celebrated in various rites and liturgical expressions, traditions, languages, and forms (the Catholic Church actually includes six rites which are celebrated in 24 distinct “churches” which are all in union under the divine authority of the successor of Saint Peter).
Book #1: Catechism of the Seven Sacraments
Join your friendly guides Fulton and Cynthia on a biblical adventure as they journey from creation to salvation and discover the importance of God’s sanctifying grace. Set in a vivid comic-book format with stunning photographs, this book makes profound theological concepts accessible to both the Catholic and the curious, the child and the adult.
I was driving with my son, and he started telling me stuff about Passover, and Jesus being the Lamb of God and all the connections between Passover and Holy Week. He's 7, in first grade. I recognized that he had his theology correct, but I could not for the life of me figure out where he had HEARD that stuff. So I asked him, "Where did you learn that?" He said, "It was in my Catechism book." "The lego one?" "Yeah."
Oh, well, then. So my seven year old is basically reading Scott Hahn in Lego form. I was a reasonably well-catechized kid, and I was an adult before I heard any of the theology he was explaining to me.

EVERY CATHOLIC FAMILY SHOULD HAVE THIS BOOK! My wonderful 3yo son has the attention span of a goldfish, and yet he is captivated by the book. For those who cannot read, the pictures alone help evangelize and educate. I have studied and listened to Dr. Scott Hahn, Tim Staples, Dr. Brant Pitre, Trent Horn, and many other fantastic apologists and theologians, yet I have still learned new things from this book alongside my children! This book combines all of your favorite apologists and centuries of Church teaching into an easy-to-read and fun-to-read format. The creators are brilliant for putting illustrations of the typology from the Old Testament on one page and the New Testament on the next so that readers (young and old) can very clearly see the symmetry. It teaches God’s Plan for our salvation in the most exciting and engaging way I have ever seen and makes the Mass come alive for the whole family. I truly cannot say enough positive things about this book! Everyone who sees it will be blown away. THANK YOU for this AMAZING resource!
We bought this book thinking it’s be a cutesy Lego-themed kids’ Catholic book, but it is SO MUCH MORE. It goes over typologies, explains each part of the Mass biblically… I mean I consider myself pretty well catechized and I still learn from it. Bravo!! All families NEED this.
Designed like the old comic books, this is packed with solid, child-friendly theology, and teaches the richness of our faith while entertaining simultaneously. Bought this for our grandsons and wish it had been around for our children.
This book is amazing and a treasure trove of Catholic teaching! It’s great for children, engaging with the detailed and entertaining lego images, and great for adults, with simple and clear Catholic teaching! I recommend this book for all ages! What a creative and wonderful answer to the New Evangelization!
We gave this book as a gift to our kids. The pages are illustrated beautifully. Everything in the book is accurate and well thought out! Such a great book for helping our kids better understand our Catholic faith! Highly recommend to all!
The O’Neills have created another great Catholic Lego book. The illustrations are so colorful and detailed. It’s a perfect way to introduce and explain the Holy Mass to children, as well as adults. It shows the beauty of the Catholic tradition in a relatable way. I’m sure we will use it to show the richness of our Faith for many years to come.
The LEGO builds are so much fun to look at, and there's so much detail in the pictures and the words, that you can't take it all in, in just 2 or 3 sittings. Both kids and adults can pick this book up and find something new in it every time. Any Christian who's deep into OT typology would find this book eye-opening on the subject of Christian liturgy.
Kids and adults alike will be captivated by this book. I believe even non-Catholics would enjoy it. Beautiful pictures explain the details of the Mass as related to Scripture, and the photos are full of color, detail, and richness, complementing the beauty and fullness of the Catholic faith. Even devout and learned Catholics will learn things from this book, as it dives into the reasons for many of the actions and words that make up the Mass. The cover is very durable, and the pages are sturdy and perfectly glossy. I love that even our non-reading children can flip through this and be transported into the life of Jesus. The labor and love and that were put into the making, editing, and publishing of this book is clearly evident. Well done.
This book is INCREDIBLE. It’s like they took all the knowledge from Church Fathers, Dr. Scott Hahn, Dr. Brant Pitre, and all the great minds at Catholic Answers and put it into a super easy-to-understand book. The pages have side-by-side images of Old Testament and New Testament events and verses to help readers understand and recognize Biblical typology. It’s pure brilliance. It works for both Novus Ordo and TLM. I can’t say enough great things about this book and their Lego Catechism of the Seven Sacraments.
This is for people old and young that want to learn more about the Mass and the Catholic faith. I didn't think I would learn anything reading this to my kids, but I did! Very thorough, and entertaining!
This book is amazing and I recommend it to everyone! It was a gift for my niece and I read it and bought one for myself. It taught me and helped me understand the beauty and awe of the Holy Mass!
I highly recommend this book. Don't let the Legos fool you. This book is deep, for youth, and up!
I got this as a first communion gift. Perfect and something I can read with him. 🥹♥️
My grandson was excited the moment he saw the book! Loves the format like a comic strip and I know the content will reach his heart greatly because of that!
Just started this book with my 9 year old last week. We read the first one together, and he loved it! I was amazed at how much theology was packed into it and written in a way that ot was easy for him to understand.
I bought this book to bring on a flight with my grandson, who is currently being raised Baptist. When he is staying with me or our side of the family, he does attend Holy Mass, but does not receive communion. I wanted to help him understand the Mass better without being forceful.
I’ve been a Catholic for 65 years and have studied the faith very seriously since being confronted by my non-Catholic in-laws 46 years ago. I’ve never stopped learning. I thought I knew most of the important Truths, but I’m learning even more exciting aspects of the Faith by reading this so-called children’s book! (And the Lego illustrations are sooo charming!)
I recommend it for everyone from 5 to 95!
I was raised Catholic and had a lot of catechism classes and yet every time I open this book I learn something new. My husband is a convert and is loving reading how everything connects. We have 4 kids and our oldest is 8. Every time he wants to read a book he grabs this one and their other book on the Seven Sacraments. He's constantly coming up to us with new knowledge on the faith and we love watching it come alive for him. Our 5 year old has the attention span of a fly but loves to look at the pictures and is always asking questions about our faith thanks to this book. She is excited to go to mass now too. The authors do an amazing job pulling the Old Testament to the New Testament and it shows from where the mass and all of the liturgical beauty comes. I can't recommend this book enough. The lego pictures are engaging for younger readers and the typology is brilliantly done and easy to understand. Whether you're well versed in the Catholic faith or just interested in learning about it this is an easy and beyond informative book. We'll definitely be using this book to reference for years to come. It will make a great Christmas gift this year!
NOT JUST FOR KIDS! I was originally interested in this book for my Lego obsessed child but to be honest I really enjoy this book as an adult. This is a wonderful book for young Lego fans in your life, but it is also a fun, approachable and informative book for adults who want to know more about the Catholic Church and the Mass in particular.
I grew up in the Catholic Church of the 1970’s and did not receive the greatest formation as a child even though I attended Catholic school for 11 years. As an adult, I realize how much I don’t know and was never taught. Reading this book and the O’Neil’s first Building Blocks of Faith book on the Sacraments has taught me so much about my faith. If you are not familiar with the significance of each part of the Holy Mass, after reading this book you and your children will have more of an appreciation of what the Mass is and why it is so special. As I learn more, the experience of Mass on Sundays becomes so much more meaningful.
You can just enjoy admiring the intricate builds and reading the text, but the book also includes references to the Bible verses that relate to the images and text so you can go and read and learn more about how the Holy Mass came to be. The attention to detail is impressive.
Our whole family enjoys the book! This would be a great gift! We are hoping there will be more books in the series!
We gave this book as a gift to our kids. The pages are illustrated beautifully. Everything in the book is accurate and well thought out! Such a great book for helping our kids better understand our Catholic faith! Highly recommend to all!
Not only is this book the best gift for any kind of sacramental celebration, in particular First Holy Communion, it is also the best gift to give to yourself!
The catechism taught in this book and the first book of the series is spot on and engaging. As an adult, I have understood more about my faith in these simple to understand books, than I have in all my 12 years of Catholic schooling!
Excellent book for a young Catholic kid. It explains the tenets of the faith clearly and simply in an enjoyable manner. Got it for my grand nephew. It is a big book so it’s not an over night book to complete. It would be a great benefit for Catholic Catechism classes.
Not only were the lego set - ups incredible, but this book was filled with
so much information, in little bites. Thinks that I never learned and never knew and were so insightful. This was a gift for my son’s family. I wish I had one for myself. It is very well done and worth the money!
Awesome book! Fun way to learn the Mass for kids
The book arrived when my 8 year old granddaughter was visiting and I attended daily Mass so she went with me. She wanted to know why does the priest tear the host ? I said see if you can find it int he new book about the Holy Mass and she did. It is a beautiful book and I like the footnotes to the Holy Bible.
My kids haven't put it down since they received it. And I know they're learning because of all the "mom, did you know..." moments they share. I really appreciate a resource like this that helps them connect to mass. ❤️
Excellent resource on the mass for children and adults. My grandson kept seeing familiar Lego pieces!!!
I bought the 3 books for Christmas gifts for my grandkids, one for each family. I know they will LOVE them!
This is an amazing book. My 7yo was very excited to receive this in the mail and immediately began reading it and asking me if I knew of different facts he was learning from the book. There was a lot of biblical typology that I didn't know and found it extremely interesting. If you love Brant Pitre as an author for adults then you will love this book for your kids.
Additionally, I attend the TLM and was very pleased to see some of the pictures lean traditional (high altar, lace, altar boys) but the text of Mass itself do not lean TLM or NO so it has universal appeal/application for all Catholics. I was very pleased with the book and would highly recommend.
Our family has loved the Catechism of the Seven Sacraments book, so we knew this book would also be a big hit with our children. So far, everyone has loved reading it, and we looked forward to gifting copies to our godsons at Christmas!
